Montefiore Aria Reserve is a limited edition, special release, designed to represent the new Israeli Mediterranean style blend. It is made from Syrah, Carignan and Petite Sirah, varieties that are considered ideal for the Israel climate.
The word Aria in its musical meaning is a reminder of the Jerusalem Music Center, which is situated next to the Montefiore Windmill in Mishkenot Sha’ananim. This is the heart of cultural Jerusalem. The word implies harmony and melody, which are represented in the final wine. Aria in Italian means Air, which recalls the Montefiore family’s Italian roots. It represents the wind that blows the sails of the Montefiore Windmill and the wind that blows off the Mediterranean Sea and cools the vineyards in the Judean Hills, which are backed by the Jerusalem Mountains. The blue and white label shows the colors of the Israel flag, which is considered a suitable color combination for a blend that represents new Israel.
Montefiore Aria Reserve was aged for 16 months, mainly in small French oak barrels but also in American barrels too. The wine has sweet aromas of ripe berries, cherries and plum, backed by well integrated oak and spice flavors. It is full flavored with a long balanced finish.
The wine is Kosher.
